Limewire?
With today's technology, it is so simple to get around paying for the music you listen to. With sites like Limewire and others, anyone can get almost anything for free. So why would people pay for CD's and download music off of iTunes and Rhapsody where they have to pay? This seems like a good thing, but it puts a major strain on the sales of recording companies. The music industry is suffering from people who choose not to purchase their music. Do you think this is a problem?

I think this is a large problem. These artists dedicate their lives to create music so they can sell their albums around the world. What people fail to realize is that music is these artist's jobs. By downloading their music illegaly, we are cheaping them out of their sometimes hard earned money. The thing is is that no one can do anything to stop these websites because they all claim to be file sharing programs meaning the websites can be used to transfer stuff other than music.
In class, yesterday, Mrs.Stoklosa mentioned how this guy was under house arrest for 6 months for downloading music off of limewire in extensive amounts. I disagree with the people who concluded to put him under house arrest for such an action, or overseen as a crime from the judges point of view. Limewire is a method largely used by ipod owners all over the world to download music, and because of it being free to all users without any sort of payment or contract it is widely popular. In my opinion, itunes and rhapsody are very expensive to buy them cordially so for now i set my foot down for those who are being charged with felony for downloading free music of the web. Until the prices decrease, anyone should be able to download music as the please from websites that offer such inexpensive methods.
