Is good the new bad?

In an old issue of Alt. Press magazine, the poll asked exactly the question above. It was a pretty even split with 49% saying yes and 51% saying no. Personally, I think it is. It is possible to be "cool" and to care about your future. I don't think its right to be self-destructive and apathetic towards yourself for the sake of others opinions of you. Our generation is turning toward more beneficial outlets like promoting the "green" movement and other things. Musicians donate themselves to helping non-profit organizations and many teenagers look up to them as role models. One of these organizations is Music Saves Lives. During Warped Tour, the donation of blood got the donor a VIP pass to go back stage with their band choice. Some artists that have worked for this cause are Katy Perry, Jack's Mannequin, and Reel Big Fish. This shows how ideas are shifting gears to a more positive light. So, is good the new bad? Or is this just a short phase?
